Tapiwa Mlinga
Tapiwa Mlinga is a contemporary artist from Malawi whose journey to art is a story of resilience and passion. After a depressive period in 2020, she began to discover her joy in painting. Inspired by the work of a South African artist and with the support of a mentoring program, she created her first works. Her first exhibition took place in 2022 and since then she has become one of Malawi's most emerging artists. In 2023 she was named "Best Malawian Visual Artist".

The Craft
Tapiwa Mlinga's painting style is characterized by the intense use of color and texture. Using a mixed media technique that combines both classical and modern elements, she creates vibrant landscapes that capture the essence of Malawi. Her works are created through an intuitive creative process in which she uses space to tell stories of hope and inspiration.
A special feature of the creative process of her paintings is that Tapiwa creates her pictures almost exclusively with a palette knife. Brushes are used very rarely.
